September Book Club - 20th Sept at Liz's

Only 5 of us last night.

I forgot to bring pen and paper with me and didn't write down what people had read over the summer.  Fail.

We did have a lovely supper though, a delicious deep-filled mushroom torte from a recipe STOLEN by Liz! Followed by an exotic fruit salad and panacotta with raspberry nipples on the top, served in lovely little coffee cup which were a legitimate steal from the Oxfam shop.

Our suggestions for the next period are on the side.

Next meeting on 17th October at my house.  7.30pm and we are reading 'The Marriage Plot'.

July book club - held on 25 July

We met a Vicky's on 25th July and discussed Pure by Andrew Miller.

We had a lovely supper but as it's now been so long since then, I can't actually remember what we had to eat.  If I'd been a more efficient blogger, I'd have done it at the time and it would be here for all to see.  And for eternity. Presumably.

Most of us liked this book, Rosie had even finished it before everyone and she calls herself a slow reader.  People liked the theme which was about the removal of the bones from the old graveyard from Les Halles to the catacombs in Paris.  It had special resonance for Louise who'd recently been to Paris and possibly the catacombs.  Apparently events in the book lead up to the revolution but I can't comment on this because I haven't finished it yet.. and probably won't as I didn't really enjoy it.

Free read in the summer.
